Gold price today: Gold hits new highs ahead of Diwali and Dhanteras
Today’s Gold Price : As Diwali and Dhanteras approach, gold and silver prices are witnessing a huge increase. The prices of both metals are continuously increasing and gold is touching new record levels.
24-karat gold has now reached around ₹1,31,064 per 10 grams (including GST)
, one of the highest prices this year. Similarly, the price of silver has also increased to around ₹1,75,975 per kg (including GST) .
According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) , 24-karat gold closed at ₹1,26,714 per 10 grams (excluding GST) on October 15 (Wednesday) . Silver closed at ₹1,74,000 per kg on that day.
Gold price rises again
Gold became expensive again on October 16. According to IBJA , the price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold increased by ₹533 , reaching ₹1,27,247 (excluding GST)
. The previous day, it was ₹1,26,714 .
On the other hand, silver prices witnessed a decline. On Thursday, the price of silver fell by ₹3,150 to ₹1,70,850 per kg , compared to ₹1,74,000 per kg a day earlier .

- 23 Karat Gold:
₹530 more expensive at ₹1,26,737 per 10 grams .
After adding GST, the price becomes ₹1,30,539
. (This does not include “mining charges.”) - 22 Karat Gold:
Increases by ₹488 to ₹1,16,558 per 10 grams .
After adding GST, the price becomes ₹1,20,054
. (Mining charges not included.)
Why are gold prices rising?
According to experts, the major reasons for rising gold prices include:
- Increase in shopping for Diwali and Dhanteras
- Fluctuations in the international market
- Investors’ interest as a safe investment
Traditionally, buying gold on the occasion of Dhanteras is considered a sign of good fortune, which is why both the demand and prices of gold increase during this time.
