journey through fear and self-doubt

Jemima admitted that she suffered from severe anxiety at the start of the tournament . She said:

“I want to be very open here, because maybe someone else is feeling the same way. No one likes to talk about their weaknesses.”

She said that she often called her mother and cried.

“Many times I would feel completely numb, not knowing what to do. My parents supported me a lot during times like this. My mom and dad were my biggest strength.”

Unparalleled collaboration from teammates

The 24-year-old batter thanked his teammates, saying:

"Arundhati Reddy used to see my tears almost every day. I even jokingly told her not to come in front of me, otherwise I would cry again. But she used to ask about my condition every day."

He added,

“Smith Mandhana also knew what I was going through. She would just stand next to me during net practice, not saying much, but her presence meant a lot to me.”

Jemima also thanked Radha Yadav , who always took care of her.

“I am so lucky to have friends who are like family. I have learned that it is okay to ask for help. My family has been through a lot, but they have never given up on me, even when I couldn’t believe in myself.”

From failure to rising again

The start of the tournament was not easy for Jemima. Her opening scores were 0, 32, 0 and 33 , after which she was dropped from the match against England. The decision shook her inside.

“When you get dropped, you start doubting yourself. I always want to do something for the team, but it’s very difficult to sit out.”

He said,

“Sometimes you just need to be patient, and things start to get better on their own. I am so grateful to the people who believed in me when I couldn’t believe in myself.”

Memorable performance

After her return, Jemima played the best innings of her life — 127 runs off 134 balls — which helped India successfully chase down the highest target of 339 runs in women’s ODI cricket history against Australia.

When she hit the winning shot off the ball of Australian spinner Sophie Molyneux , the stadium erupted with joy. Jemima could not control her emotions and dedicated her victory to all those who supported her in difficult times.

The journey ahead

After this historic win, India has reached the final, where it will face South Africa, who are making their first appearance in the final .

Whatever the outcome, Jemima Rodriguez’s story has become an inspiring example for millions — a player who is winning hearts not just with her bat but with her truth, courage, and humanity.

“It’s okay to be weak, it’s okay to ask for help just don’t give up.”That’s Jemima’s message to anyone who is fighting an inner battle.
